Popularized in the Tamil region, enjoyed by every region of India, this highly seasoned lentil powder is versatile. We call it Roarin’ Russum because we like ours with a real kick from freshly ground chiltepan peppers, red chilies and black pepper. We balance it out with freshly roasted and ground coconut, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, dried organic cilantro and a pinch of fennel. Nigella seeds and turmeric add golden color and texture. What makes Russum special is the freshly toasted and ground lentil mix. With them, this blend brings intense, exciting flavor that not only seasons, it makes an excellent thickener in broths, gravies and soup, or a dry rub and dusting powder for every meat and veggie. Of course, our favorite is using it as the base for your very own chutney. Mix with tomatoes, fruit, etc., and there you have it!
